Question Modifying stock airbox

After multiple searches and hours of reading, I have decided to just do a K&N drop in and run a duct to the bottom of the air box as opposed to an open filter setup. For you guys that have done this, I assume you ran the hose to the lower grill area, but what did you use for an inlet there, and did you keep it behind the grill or underneath? Thanks in advance for the help.

Tim's website

I took an idea from Tim's website and bought a brake cooling duct and made a bracked to mount it to the truck. I can't feel any performance difference but I'm sure it made a little difference. The blower is slightly louder now to.

Where did you mount the duct intake? Behind the grill or under? Is it visible? Sorry for all the questions.

Scoop placement

Here is a good picture to give you an idea. Mine is on the drivers side beside the grill. If you look at the front of my truck, you can see about 2-3 inches of the scoop hanging down.

I ran a 4" plastic hose between the frame rail and the inner fender well. Problem is that you can't turn sharp to the right when doing it that way.

I just bought a el-cheapo duct at home depot. You can see it on my web page. (gas station pic)

i just cut the bottom of the box and didnt run any hose. The whine is quite a bit louder, didnt go for the ram air idea, just wanted more sound and air flow. Works good.

Wet vac hose, large wet vac attachment and hole saw to drill hole through bottom of air box. I positioned the scoop at center under bumper, looks better than on side. Currently I have two scoops plus the stock fender wall air inlet feeding and pressurizing the air box, hope this helps.

Bert.

I have the rubbermaid air box and i had a ram air set up but i lost the hose somewhere on the highway. Are you all running the hose through the fender or is it better not to?
