Patriot Heads

What are the thought out there on the PAtriot Stage II heads and cams?

Is anybody actually running these and, if so, how are they?

I'm thinking about adding a set to my build up plans while the motor is apart, but I'd like to hear from some with first hand experiences with them.

The specs all look good -

Heads:
OEM PI Romeo or Windsor Castings
5 Axis CNC ported
Patriot Stainless Valves
Bronze Guides
.575" Lift Springs (Stage II)
Titanium Retainers
5 Angle Valve Job
No Exchange Required

Cams:
233/237 @ .050 Duration .545"/.550" Lift 113 LSA

but I'm not quite sure yet - I emailed Gunnar at Patriot about the heads and found the valve and springs are Partiot products, not Comp or Crower or Crane, etc.

My "carry out" price would be $1875 plus $100 for plug thread inserts. I could have them in 2-3 weeks.

Anybody got info to help - positive or negative welcome.

Thanks,
Herb

Herb,

I am going thru the same process right now. From all my research they were having alot of trouble with valve guides and oil consumption. They have since corrected the problems and I have yet to find anyone within the past few months that has any complaints about them. For every person who doesn't like them(usually based on other's experiences), I have found a person who swears by their heads(actual person's experience). I haven't found anything yet on failures of their "Patriot" components. So they may be quality pieces.

Check out modulardepot.com and modularfords.com. That is where I have found most of the information. I will be making my decision in the coming week.

I have researched the subject a little and have found that Fox Lake offers porting your heads for a little less than Patriot. The flow numbers that Patriot advertise is better but it is at .600" lift. The below .550" lift is better with the Fox Lake port job. Just my 2 cents.

I use JDS Induction for all my cylinder head work and they have had several sets of the Patriot heads in there with “issues”…

I would use Fox Lake for a budget head or JDS for an all out engine.

JDS is the best, and Fox Lake is right there. As for flow numbers, Fox Lake does not exaggerate like some of the big "advertisers" do.
