Auto dimming side and rear view mirrors

Is it possible to swap side mirrors and rear view for auto-dimming ones? Im not even sure if side mirrors that dim even exist for our trucks?

As far as the rear view goes-I understand that there are a ton out there that will glue to the windshield. What Im looking for is one that snaps on like the stock one,, and most important- one that is big enough for the truck. Does the Harley come w/one?

My 02 Lariat has the auto dimming mirror. It attaches to the little oval key which is glued to the windshield just like any other mirror. The wire goes up into the overhead console thing where the compass and temp display are located.

The Lightning mirror snaps in and is a type of break-away, held on by a C-shaped spring clip. Is yours different?

Sure I did it. It just snapped onto the existing mount. Just do a search for auto dimming mirrors. I found some that look exactly like stock for about $100 I think. It only needs a power hookup even bought the plastic wire channel that goes from the headliner to the mirror base that encases the wires.

I put one on and I bought it new from www.mitocorp.com for $100

Yup. Look just past that to see 'AND rear view mirror'. That's a conjunction, to join two or more items in a sentence. We've been discussing the rear view mostly.

I must be blind in one eye, and can't see out of the other!

Do you remember what car/truck the mirror was from? Ive looked on ebay and looks like Id have to remove the factory mount and glue a new mounting puck on the windshield. Would much rather use the stock mount if possible.

The rear view dimmer is a great thing to have, my explorer has it and its an eye saver at night especially. My explorer doesn't have dark tint though like my L..never needed it as long as I had darker than legal tint all around.

It's not as if Ford uses a different mirror mount for every single trim level of every single vehicle. Without checking, I would comfortably assume that all late model Ford trucks will use the exact same mirror mount (the piece glued to the windshield). Therefore I would conclude that any mirror from any late model Ford truck would fit the mount glued on your windshield. I would also suspect that other makes of vehicles would use a different mount, so you might not want to mess with Chevy or Dodge mirrors.

I'm taking my stock rearview mirror of the window and installing a Gentex mirror off my overhead Windstar console. I will use square aluminum tubing to mount the mirror to the console. The wires will be hidden inside the tube. It gives me a chance to finally use my birthday gift.

The Expedition auto dimming mirror is made by Gentex.
