Question Ignition Coil replacement......do we have any options?

Are there any High Performance ignition coils available for Lightnings? I just had the dealer replace one of mine and had to pay a $50 deductable for my warranty. Hell if its gonna cost me $50 everytime a coil goes out then I may as well change them myself and use a better than stock replacement.

FYI

I bought a coil pack from NAPA last year. When i opened the box, they were oem ford coils, with the newer black stickers and the ford part number right on them. So ford must buy them from a vendor or something. I'm not sure. Given i have an account with napa and get a discount. I replaced all 8 for around 325 bucks. I was having alot of problems last year so i figured the truck was 5 years old, might as well start there.

I think they list for like 63 from napa. I've seen them from ford from 60 bucks and up.

Granatelli and MSD.....I'll have to look into these. I thought the stock ones were available for $50. So my thinking is I'm really not saving any money by letting Ford replace them under warranty due to my $50 deductable......just getting some free labor. So if I'm paying the same whether I do it myself or let it get done under warranty then maybe I should look into getting better ign coils and do it myself.

that's $50 each, not for the whole set.

$50 x 8 = $400

No way I'd spend that much... But if they came up with a single box that gave improvements.. I'd certianly consider it because I've had to close the gaps on my plugs as it is.

the msd 7020 sucks ***! i installed it last year and did notice more throttle response and better mpg, but when installed my wipers would turn on by themselves, headlights would turn on by themselves, overhead consel would not work, and the radio would go wacky!

i ended up putting the two dis 4's with the 4 tach adapters and 2 caps. it seemed like a good idea but involed alot of wiring and the shop who installed it wired two coils wrong and the motor would not rev passed 4000 rpm. i did not catch the problem until the motor blew and the two pistons that were melted turned out to be the ones w/ the bad wiring .

but there is some good news......

i saved a bunch of money by switching to geico!!!

j/k msd is in the process of making a plug and play harness for 2 dis 4's to 8 coils, so no more cutting!!!

hope this helped
