Do our MAFs work in fox body 5.0L Mustangs?

Would a 90 Mil MAF that came out of a 2002 L work on like a 1991 Mustang 5L? Are the harnesses the same?

Thanks for any help, Jason

Many 4.6L use our 80mm MAF as the sensor has more range than the 90mm.
(Some take the 80mm sensor and put it in a 90mm housing)

I haven't a clue for the 5.0L.

I would think so. After all, 5 volts is 5 volts. You would, of course have to have the correct transfer table value, just like any other MAF swap. The A9L is the 'best' ECM for 5.0 use and the tuning that I was used to in that world was all 'band-aids' The MAF sensor (like from Pro-M) was "calibrated" for certain injectors. This basicly meant that the 0-5 V output from the MAF was tweaked to make the factory injector signal deliver the right amount of fuel for an up-sized injector. I used the EEC-Tuner from Shiftmaster to directly change the parameters instead of relying on a MAF re-cal.

Yes but keep in mind the Lightning 90MM MAF is calibrated for 42lb injectors.

The harness look like it should plug right in. But you can not interchange the block box electronics from either car. They just will not bolt up since the hole do not line up. You can get one and not the other. You would need to make some sort of adapart to make a mustnag electronic box to work.

Ford MAFs are not "calibrated for injectors". That's an aftermarket thing, and has pretty much been the norm for so long that lots of people think that. Just FYI.

You CAN use a Lightning MAF on a 5.0, it's done all the time. The plug is NOT the same, so you will need a late model plug end. The key to using that MAF, is that the tuner needs to know exactly what he's doing. You need to have the proper x-fer for the Lightning MAF, and it needs to be in the proper unit format for the PCM you are using it on. There are also different clock speeds of PCMs and that has to match the MAF x-fer that is used.

So yes, it can be done, and is a common mod, but the tuner needs to know what he's doing.

What years and model F150's can you get the 90mm MAF from that can be tuned to work in a FOX? In other words... are all 5.4L engines with the 90mm MAF the same MAF as the "lighning MAF".

I found a MAF that measures 4" intake (inner dimensions), 3 outlet side and has the P/N: XL3F-12B579-BA and PTB-GF40

I believe this is off of a 2003 F150 with a 5.4L. Everywhere I look the lightning maf ends in AA not BA. Any insight on these MAF's would be very appreciated.

since only the supercharged 5.4's (only on Lightnings and Harley trucks in 2003) came with the 90mm MAF in '01-'04 the '99-'00 Lightnings had an 80mm MAF

So what MAF is this then? I believe it was off a 2003 F150 5.4L truck with no supercharger. The intake side measures 4" and the outlet side measures roughly 3.5" diameter. The part number for the MAF is XL3F-12B578-BA

Are these very much different than the lightning MAFs? If they flow about the same I just need to find the MAF transfer to program into my computer. I have looked all over but can't find one.
