Customize Hood to be functional
Customize Hood to be functional
has anyone ever attempted to make a hood like mine functional? I have the JLP ram air under the bumper, but would love the hood to actually be functional.... i just figured someone has done this and wondered how ya did it...

abcexclusive.com sells the same hood as that but theirs is FUNCTIONAL... i dont know where you go that one but i'd sell it and go buy abcexclusive's since you want that look and a functional hood.
I'm not sure where he got it, but there's one very similar (if not the one) here.

BTW, I have no experience with this company good or bad. I just knew about the site when I was looking for hoods recently.

Ok, here's my experience with ramairhood.com. I ordered one from them in the middle of June. 6 weeks later the hood gets there. Luckily I opened it before the truck driver left because they sent me a hood for 2004/2005 F150. Sent that one back and they sent me another hood. This one was for the correct years but when I took it to my body guy to have it fitted and painted, it was warped so bad we couldn't use it. Called them again and they sent out hood number 3. This one turned out to be good and it's on my truck now. By the time it was all said and done, the hood wasn't on my truck until November.

Thats all you really need to do. Get yer dremel out and start cuttin!!! Cut a hole directly above the air box, and cut out the scoops. Its not going to be a sealed system because of the other two air entry ways. You could even get some weatherstripping from homedepot to seal it to the top of the airbox. I didnt do this to my hood cause I dont think its worth what ever it will give me HP wize. I would rather keep the water out. Plus if you already have a JPL ram air, thats good enough.

fly INTO the extractor seemed more than enough to provide
the required "cool air". Temps seem a bit lower after 40 minute
track sessions now too.
