This picture brings back memories....Ah now, we are on my home ground ......I have had a lifetime's association with chemicals. I started on acid at 16 and only stopped about 2 years ago when I got more involved with Gators challange and I have given a lot of thought and experience to this subject.
I do want to state, for the record that I was never into heroin. I did it twice and thought it was phenomenonally boring but LSD, Coke, Ecstacy, Dope, Speed, mushrooms?, yep!
I do believe that drugs have the power to break through rigid thought patterns and can open up perceptions to other ways of thinking and being but once you have done this I believe that to continue to take them actually closes the doors back again. A moment of illumination, continued becomes simply "photoshoping a silver L on fire" and trivialises the experience. I speak as one who moved beyond moments of clarity into standing on a dance floor, wearing swimming goggles, with a bottle of water glued to my hand shouting "Come on, lets foot race".
I had some of the best times of my life on drugs, genuinely. I never once had a bad experience, in 30 years (Im 44 now) I just dont take them anymore because life moves on and want to do other things.
Can drugs enable personal growth? A resounding yes in my book. Can they make you lazy, paranoid, detached, clueless, depressed, barking mad? a resounding yes again. Until you take them you have no way of which way you will go. They worked for me but I wouldnt recommend them.
