Check your spark plugs first, when loose they can sound like a noisy injector.

is it a constant tick? or only when engine is cold. injectors can be loud. mine have gotten noisiesr over the years but lifters arent to much of a problem to replace. id take it to a mechanic to check it out see what he says.

thanks ,the tick is at all temps, dos not get any better when truck warms just stay the same.when i give it gas it stay the same just shounds like a exhust leak but its not.if it is an injector is there a way to figure it out which one it is,plan on bring it to sal at psp he is the closest to my home but all local guys cant put there fingure on the problem, trying to save the money and figure it out . If it is the lifter how much you think it should cost?and if it is any injector should i replace it? and if i do what should this cost me thanks

well im up at my dads work the good old ford house. dad told me pull valve cover off compress the springs for the valve and pul the lifter off. he said they havent had any lifters go bad on them. since its a lighting their high flow injectors so its likely just ur injector ticking. but to replace lifters its not to difficult but they are expensive.

With the truck running, unplug the injectors, one by one. If the ticking stops, you've found the problem.

David

Edit: Just in case you didn't know, don't just keep unplugging injectors. Unplug one, then plug it back in before going to the next one.

Of course unplugging the fuel source will lean out the A/F ratio. You were planning on doing this at idle right? not WOT.

Do it at idle and only long enought to hear if the ticking stops. Nothing to worry about then.
