What year(s) trucks does this cover? I recall hearing about it, but can't remember. I think it was 2000-2001 models but not positive.

They stopped using the faulty switches after 2001?

Or there hasn't been enough time for the newer switches to have the chemical barrier coating break down and cause fires?

the funny part is the one their replacing is the one they have less problems with. its the sensor thats on the end of the master cylnder. the ones that are under mounted have more problems but its the ones that are on top that are under recall. but its pretty much most all i'd check see if its leaking if it is then take it in have them fix it.

Man this is really starting to scare the crap out of me! I'm stationed in Korea and my 2000 L is in a military storage facility. How in the hell am I supposed to get this done to my truck? I'm just waiting for a call saying..."Sir your truck caught on fire and is totaled." I love my truck I hope nothing happens to it. I already contacted ford by e-mail but they responded with the same crap I have already heard.......take it to a dealer and have it deactivated. Hummmm good chance of that happening.

In the mean time unhook it ur self... there was a post on how to do this earlier and then call another dealership and thell them your situation, you should also get a letter in the mail from ford which will tell you the problem and recall information.

wow, thats nuts .... mine is unplugged, hope thats good enough.

What a disappointment this kind of crap is. One Fords flagship vehicles (IMO) bursts into flames on its own, I'm losing faith more and more these days.....

Both my '03 explorer and my L have decently major recalls issued within a few months of each other.

Maybe you should go buy a Lexus and stop lamenting about how bad Ford is.
