A few question for you folks
A few question for you folks
Okay why does my L take a while to shift? Here is what it does, I’m stopped, and I floor it and run it up around 3 to 4 grand, and than lift a little, it doesn’t shift right away, it takes like a second or two to shift into second. Does anyone know why the SVT does this, and is it normal for our trucks? Would a FTVB help this shift problem any?
Another question for you folks; I can floor the L, and right around redline, I can let off all the way. It makes this air like noise (like a turbo blow off valve). What would cause this noise?
My truck runs normal other than these little questions I’ve had since day one. I have a little over 32 thousand on her now, and she is all stock except for a drop in K&N air filter, so the warranty is about over, and I was just wondering if this is normal for our trucks?
Thanks in advance for any and all your help on these questions.
BTW it is an 03.

The first item sounds perfectly normal to me. The tranny is shifted by the computer. Been there done that...
2nd item.. I donno? I don't do those kinds of horrendous redline lifting throttle things to my truck.
When my tach is at anything over 3500 it's because I'm WOT w/my size 13 planted HARD.

Thanks wydopnthrtl for answering my questions about my truck!!
I didn't think anything was wrong with her, just curious more than anything. She has been a super nice truck for me, and what I use her for, she a daily driver which will never be modded. Well I've always wanted the FTVB, and I'll get it soon enough. At 13:46 on a upper 50 degree day she is fast enough for a pickem up truck. On that same day I got my first 1.97 60 ft times on stock F1's at 36psi. I have not yet ran her with the K&N filter to she what she'll do now. Thanks again for your time to answer my questions.

All kidding aside. A chip filter pulley combo is an unbelievable improvement. I went with www.razorsedgemotorsports.com and recommend you give it a try. (see my web page for my mods and timeslips)

OT: Deals gap and cherahola skyway huh? I used to live in Vonore Tn. Almost died up there in 2000 on a nighthawk 750. Love that area but I'm sticking to 4 wheels and sheet metal from now on.

I have friends with modded trucks, and they are very fast. It is just I'm very happy with my truck, it does everything I ask of her and more sometimes. My friends with modded trucks can't get any traction on the street, and a few have came real close in crashing them on the track with stock F1's. A few of my friends are SVT-KY (6lbs lower on 02), FordChick (4lbs lower on 02) (don't know there screen names) Jonothan 6lbs lower on 04. All of them are in the high 12's to lower 12's with slicks.
I do have a person with a 6lbs and chip he wants to sell me for $200 a PSP pulley and chip that came off his 03, but like he says, he can't got any traction on the street with F1's. (he is tempting me very much with that price)

I love deals gap and the area around it a TON!!! Been going for over 8 years now, but have slowed down since I bought the L. (took away my play money but worth every penny to me) You can call me the tour guide for my biker friends around here. I stopped going on the weekends, tooooo many crashes and cops. I have over 130,000 miles under my belt on 3 bikes. A 82 Honda CB650 35thou, an 85 650 Nighthawk 67thou, and the love of my life an 90 Ninja 750R 48thousand miles.

Yeah, the computer shuts 4 cylinders down on the shifts, nothing wrong there. Not sure if I'm right about this, but I thought when you let off the gas at full throttle completely that is what can cause oil to get into the throttle body and eventually down into the intercooler. Somebody with a bit more knowledge than me please chime in if I'm wrong.
