Nice, looks expensive.

So, would you be able to make L bumper covers with that? Or just small pieces?

this laser will cut up to; 1/2" plate steel, 1/4" stainless and 3/16" alum. it loads and unloads the material (4' x 10' sheets) so it can run lights out (unattended) and it cost $450,000.00! The thing is $450,000.00 is not a lot for a laser with automation. We could have spent $650,000.00 if we had needed to cut thicker materials. This machine will cut 18 to 20 ga. (.048" to .036") material at 750" per minute! It's very fast in thinner sheet metal gauges and since that's what we do, it fit our needs very well. We have been punching metal for twenty years and avoided buying a laser because we did not have the right kind of work to need one. We bought this one with the Field of Dreams theme in mind..........if we build it they will come. I sure hope so!

Jerry, a while back I switch from using a metal guy who punched my parts to a guy who used the laser. The difference on the same part was very noticable and I was quite pleased. I think you made a great choice to get the laser.

Sal,

The laser is a great tool but it can't replace a punch. A punch will do holes at a speed a laser can't even come close to. We have one cluster tool that punches 27 1/8" holes in one stroke of the punch (the punch will hit 900 times per minute in nibble mode, and 200 hits per minute in normal mode). The laser is slowest on holes. The punch also will do countersinks, demples, louvers, card guides and many other forms that a laser will not do. The punch and the laser both have their place in metal fabrication.

Man I wish I got to check posts on here when they actually happen not hours later. I knew this one too. I'm a sheetmetal worker for the military. Man sure could have used some scuff plates. Oh well enjoy your new toy, I've seen them used before and they are sweet! Sure makes life easier on us tin benders.

Red,

We are still looking at all kinds of parts. Anything you can think of from driveshaft loops to just about anything made out of #8 mirror finish stainless for that bling bling factor so many are into right now.
