Question Fog Light Lens Reinstallation

Fog Light Lens Reinstallation

Hello again Lightning brothers, it’s been along time since I’ve posted a question. Can someone please help me out with a recent problem. I currently have my truck stored in my brother’s driveway and he called me last week to tell me that he found one of my fog light lenses lying on the driveway. Before I go over to his house to reinstall it I figured I would save myself some aggravation and ask you guys what the proper way to reinstall the lens is? Also, is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening again?

Thanks in advance,

Peter

i was driving and the light just fell off on my 2000, lol, didnt break... strong piece of glass i must say! I bought a waterproof sealant from Home Depot for 3 bucks or something like that and they have been on tight ever since. I think u should tug on the other one to see if it will come off aswell.... cause i figured if one comes off so will the other, and as luck would have it it came of very easily.

Don't mean to hijack but I bought my truck 2 months ago (99 L) and both fog light lenses were missing and still are. I didn't realize that this was an ongoing problem. Can I get replacement lenses? or do I have to chuck them?

Maybe think about storing your truck somewhere else. Your bro is probably driving the L.

Thanks for the advice on the sealant for reinstallation. Actually my brother does drive it every once in a while just to keep it from sitting too long, I’m not sure how careful he is though.

So is it easy to reinstall these? Do they just pop back in or do you have to push them in and twist it or something?

Thanks again,

Pete

ummmm yea.... about sealing them again yourself.... well its been raining here for a few days in socal now and ummm i just realised i dont have the glass on the foglights anymore! I guess they fell off again while i was driving. I took it to the dealer and he said that they will replace them under my extended warrenty. soo if u have one do that if not goodluck.

If the glass fell out, you'll have to glue it back into place.
If the whole foglight assembly fell out, you'll have to snap it back into place. It's kinda hard for the assembly to "fall" out, so it's most likely just the lens.

I got my replacement lenses & fog light covers from here: http://www.texasmustang.com

Just call them to place the order.. They will know..
You want the reproduction lights, like $18 each (plus shipping)

Thumbs up

Thank you for all the responses, I do appreciate it. I do have an extended warranty with about 5 years and 40k miles left on it but I hate bringing my truck to the dealer because they always put new scratches on it. Anyway, I bought some clear epoxy gel for bonding steel and glass together at Home Depot. I used it to put the lens back on and it worked beautifully. The stuff is a little hard to work with but it bonded in about two minutes. After about fifteen minutes when I tried to move it the whole assembly moved. I’m pretty impressed with how well it turned out.

Thanks again for the help,

Pete
