Parts for engine swap

When you swap out a dead short block, what other parts are required to complete the job?

I know the headgaskets and such, but what other items?

? timing chain & gears ?
? are there any torque-to-yeild bolts ?
? any other oddities not immediately noticed (like the thermactor plugs on the old 5.0s) ?

What would be the best source for these parts?

I am planning on at least a short block with head studs and head gaskets from the same source.

What about other add-pns like main girdles and windage trays, etc. ?

On a side note - how hard is it to swap heads in the truck when head studs were used?

Thanks,
Herb

Yes you will need to change the timing chains chain guides and chain tensioners. You will also need to change the crank gear and key.

You will need the timing chain cover gasket, valve cover gaskets, and front and rear seals.

It is a real big job to remove the heads if you have head stud, but not imposible.
The factory style head bolts are torque to yield. So head stud is the better option.
