got it

morning all.
got my '99 lightning last night, swapped my corvette for it.
bit of a change thats for sure.
anyway all seems well,im going to do a oil change right away, any tips?
also any other pointers that i might have a look at while im giving the truck an inspection?
only thing ive noticed so far is a slight shudder when setting off, seems like a bit of wheelspin but im not convinced.any ideas?
thanks mike.

run an oasis report on it (go to dealer, ask them to run it, may cost you a few bones, but worth it. It will tell you if the intercooler recall has been done) If you are somewhat mechanically inclined then you may want to pull the supercharger and clean the IC. Also when changing your oil change your fuel filter as well. While you're at it, make sure your spark plugs are properly tightened to avoid blowing a plug somewhere down the line (5.4 motors are somewhat notorious for blowing plugs). That should get you started, others may chime in with other stuff I forgot. Oh by the way is it stock? And welcome to the L community/family

whats is the mileage ?
do you know its history ?

Do the "factory tech valve body" mod and 4X4 pan when you change the trans fluid.

Sold my 'vette in December for a L, and you're right, it takes getting used to. But I love it, and am looking forward to modifying it for a lot less money than the old car!

my c5 was a auto.
it probably put the power down a bit better, but was only slightly quicker i suppose.
theres so many easy ways to increase the power of the L that im sure you could easily match the c5,up to 100mph anyway.

cool man, did u have a chip or anything on your vette? what kind of top speed would it get? i have a buddy with a C5 with an intake, cat back exhaust, and a chip and he claims to have gone 180, which i guess is believable since i think the Z06's are 200+ capable.

Welcome to the L community. You should have a blast with your new truck. I propose you do the following simple mods first (of course check if the recall on the Intercooler has been done):

CAI
Factory Tech valve body
90mm Mass Air
Computer tuner or chip

Here are some tuner web sites to get you started, I'm sure others will chime in with others to take a look at:

Also use the search feature, it's your friend!

Almost forgot, take a look at getting a pulley also (make sure you have your computer chip set up for the pulley and other mods of course). 4 pound is great for a daily driver.

thanks for tips on tuning.
my vette would do around 175mph,but to be honest im more interested in performance up to around 100mph because the rest of its pretty useless on the roads in the UK.
good overtaking and accelerating power is what i like.
mike.

Wow! You drive a Lightning in the UK?

I have a hard time coughing up $50 for a fill up over in the states, I can't imagine the pain you're in when you fill it up over there.
