Wide Band Commander Problems

I am going to check my WBC, but does anyone have a problem with WBC mis reading lean with long tubes or any thing else. Just a question because i am getting some strange readings and i don't hear detonation... Is detonation really that unmistakeable to the ear? Could these also misread in 1st and 2nd and not third on the same run?

My Wideband Commander reads about .5 to .6 of a point leaner on the gauge than on their analog output. They say the analog output is gospel and to trust that. I'd like the gauge to read correctly! You also will read leaner in 1st and second gear than in third as the load is different. Mine typically reads 12.2 or so in second gear and changes to 11.8 or so in high gear at WOT.

You won't need it if you use their datalogger, but I am using a Raptor Datalogger to go with the SCT Racer Pro software I tune with. So Dynojet has a plug/harness that's voltage output for this purpose. By configuring the Raptor to convert this voltage to A/F numbers I can datalog everything going on in the truck including A/F off one screen.

Jody,

How are you logging boost with the Raptor? I just ordered my Pro Racer, should be in on Wednesday. I am also thinking about adding a wideband, not sure which one I will be going with yet.

I don't log boost. I do log A/F from the wideband into the Raptor through the analog output on the wideband to the analog input on the Raptor. There is a section in config to convert it from voltage to A/F and it helps with the tuning to have the A/F logged with the other things you're looking at like load, maf #min, fuel trims, etc.

I have the same results with my wideband gauge showing different results than when I log the run via laptop. I thought something was wrong but realized it was close.

You can log boost (in addition to the tps and a/f) by getting a GM 3 bar MAP sensor.

Obtained from the wideband commander site:

12223861 - 3 Bar MAP sensor
15305891 - pigtail harness
http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/

There are 3 pins on the MAP sensor, labeled ABC (you can buy a pigtail on GM Parts Direct).
A = ground
B = 0-5v output
C = 5v reference

You'll need to find a 5v source, like one found at the TPS sensor, and send it over to pin C. This will provide power to the MAP sensor. You'll want to find a decent ground for pin A, and then pin B will act as a 0-5v output. Since the Wide Band Commander has (2) analog inputs, you can send the signal from pin B to either of these inputs.

What are you using for the conversion value? Dynojets website says to use (1.6*VALUE) + 10, but I have read others use (1.78*VALUE) + 10. This could be why the gauge has a different reading than analog??

Different wideband sensors could have different formula's, but Dynojets is the volts X 1.6 + 10 formula, verified by Dynojet.
