Defi's are expensive but you get what you pay for honestly.
Autometers are not even in the same league a Defi's. Everything about them is superior to Autometer.
1. They have simplest wiring of any gauges I have ever seen. One power - one ground - one illumination and your done. Once the control unit is wired all you do is plug in the senders into it and then the gagues just plug into it. You can run up to 5 gauges off one control unit.
2. They are totally electric, nothing but one wire running from each sender wherever it may be to the control unit.
3. You can move the individual gauges around and the control unit knows what gauge is where. I currently have my boost gauge on the column and if i wanted to move the FP gauge to the column and the boost to the pillar all I have to do is pop em out and switch them. The control unit will identify and send the correct sensor output to it automatically.
4. They can record in unison for 40 seconds and play it back at any time. They also have warning lights built into them that flash when you program a pre set value, for instance my FP gauges warning light will go off if my FP drops below 30psi.
They look great at night as well as in the daytime. I to have run autometers for years and then a friend turned me on to these, and now that I have used them I will never use any other gauge. They are the top of line and everything else that I have seen to date fails in comparison.
There are several places online to buy them, just call make sure your getting the non metric versions. Its best to buy the boost gauge as "set" with the control unit with it. Then just buy the other gauges to add on.

Like Bob stated, get the electrical. They are just as good and just as accurate as mechanical. Some people believe that mechanical gauges are more accurate and that would be incorrect the majority of the time if your comparing the same make of gauge (elect. vs. mech).
Mechanical gauges are generally easier to accurately “read” due to a bigger sweep of the needle but that does not make them more accurate then electrical.
Therefore if you were really worried about reading a temperature reading of 218 as compared to say 210 or 215 then you would be more apt to read 218 on a mechanical.
When someone tells you that mechanical is more accurate then electrical tell them that may have been true in the 70’s and perhaps the 80’s but not any more, not with the advance of electronics and senders…
