Need a Little Guidance

I just bought a new set of rims and they are 20 x 9in. This is the same size of the replicas that some of you run. I'm just very unsure of which tire to go with. My ideal sizes would be 295x40x20 or 295x35x20. Everywhere I look it seems that the 295 is too wide for the rim. Most of the tire manufacturer sites say that either a 285 or 275 is the right choice. The problem is that finding a tire in that size is damn near impossible. So I have a couple questions. Will a 295 series tire fit on a 9 inch wide rim? If I step down to a 275 or 285, will it hurt my performance drastically? I have heard of people that have put a 295 series tire on anyway, but is that safe and will it look funny? I'd obviously like to go with the stickiest tire for my particular application. I just wish that these manufacturers would step up to the plate and give us some more choices for size. I really like the Nitto 555's, but the widest 20 they make is a 275. So those of you that have been through this please gimme some input. I'd like to know what your experiences have been with the tires you've been running, and if you've got any pics of your setups please share em.

I feel your pain, been there done that, you can run the 295's on the 9's with out any trouble..... and looks good also. or buy the 275's and and keep a set of hoosiers's around for track days...

Put the wider tires on. It'll give the tire a more massive look... which hopefully will offset the short sidewall ricer look.

I've narrowed it down to these tires in 295/40/20.

Dunlop SP Sport 9000
BFGoodrich Comp T/A ZR SSS
BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW
Kumho ECSTA Supra 712
Hankook Ventus ST RH06
Toyo Proxes S/T

What are your opinions on them?

Get the Toyo Proxes, the best in my opinion.
