how cold + what mods = blown motor??
how cold + what mods = blown motor??
How cold does it have to get and what mods put your engine in danger..
I thought colder was better??
Is it the boost increase due to the denser air??

hmm well mine is not tuned to the edge. it is a conservative tune.
and stays very rich @ wot. the 3rd and 2nd point away from the end of rich on the autometer.. for what that is worth.
Around here right now though it is 50s temp and I have raced several times in that temp.
I guess maybe putting a few bottles of octane boost in lower temp weather couldn't hurt.
Finally I am running the 4# pulley till it gets warmer again because with it and the cold weather I see almost 14lbs instead of the 12lb i see with it warm.
thanks for the reply

I took it to Sal and said I wanted to drive it daily, be safe, and I'd go to the track twice a year.
Given all my mods and my conservative tune I am right where I want to be. Now I want to free up the exhaust flow a little to keep detonation (HOT cylinder temps) at bay.
I could've probably gotten another 15rwhp and trq to the rear wheels on my street tune.. 11.4-.8 across the RPM range up to 5800rpms but leaning it out, but that isn't what I'm after.
I didn't want a DYNO queen that put down big numbers.
Heck, I'm running mid 12's and I don't even have a so called "RACE" program.

I blew my engine in January. I had a 3# lower pulley, JLP ram air, and JLP chip. It was cold about -15* and was doing around 135mph on the highway and accellerating when it blew. Not much left of the engine after that. All the oil that left the engine started a fire on my cats and I had to put it out with snow.
Idiot?
Lets see desserted highway, that is dry. Good traction on an ice free highway. And did I say I used to race snowmachines on ice. And 135mph is slow comparred to some things I have driven.

Well you guys do you think that a tune would allow you to keep it floored in any condition??
I mean we all know (well most of us) that pushing your luck in freezing or below weather is not a good idea.. but what if some of us live in cold weather all the time..

Floored = Closed loop = FIXED fuel = Bad idea !!!
