I'm looking at buying a 2003 lightning from a ford dealer and I was concerned about the paint under the hood. You know the post that support the hood when it's closed? They look like treaded screws with a rubber top and they are located above where the lights are. Anyway, on this lighting those posts were painted, even the rubber tops, and the paint was starting to chip off. The dealer told me that is how it comes but I have never seen another car or truck where those posts are painted. Is the dealer right or was the front end of this car sprayed and the posts where not taken out? I don't know if a carfax will tell.

Mine had silver on them also, I painted them black when I added some underhood "chikenears" goodies.....

My red 2003 had red paint on the hood bumpers. I had the same though you did. But in looking at others, I find that it is the way the factory did it.
