UT OH? Water in my transmission?

My 03 just rolled 30k miles yesterday so I put it in the shop today for an oil change. I also wanted to drop the trans fluid as it has about 15k miles on it.

The fluid that came out of the the trans was strawberry milkshake colored? Like it has water in it?

The trans is shifting just fine but where could this water be coming from? I am not losing coolant either?

<HELP>

Doesn't the factory trans cooler run through the radiator? If so, that could be where you're getting water from.

I am not loosing any coolant at all.

Well the only thing that we can figure is this ?

When I put the long tubes on the truck I did not want to bend the trans dipstick tube up to get it back in its bolt on the side of the block so it has b so it has been tie wrapped up to some lines on the passenger fenderwell. After some looking the trans dipstick appears to be pulled out a little bit from where it goes into the rubber tube that goes into the tranny. I pushed the dipstick tube back down and it pushed it farther back down into the rubber tube on the trans. It appears to be seated in the rubber tube 100% now.

We have had alot of rain here recently and maybe water has gotten splashed up into the area where the dipstick tube and the rubber tube come together and being slightly pulled it was allowing water to get down in there.

Either way in going to change the fluid a few times in the next few days to try and get all of the milky fluid out. I hope I did not mess up my trans, it seems to shifting just fine so <shrug>

water prob.

Your tranny should be fine. I had about 4 quarts of extra water in mine at one time. It will be a total nightmare when you go to change your valve body because the seperator plate gaskets stick after being exposed to water. But on the up side the tranny (at least on my truck) is fine going on a year and about 8K miles now.

Get it flushed ASAP, water in a tranny can be a very bad thing (if it gets hot and boils inside the tranny it can get ugly)

That's exactly what I was thinking. Water can do some serious damage to a tranny.

Greg -

Will just changing it 4 or 5 times in few hours get it all out? I have already changed it once and I am about to order 3 cases of fluid for it.

Im gonna drop the fluid then refill and drive it, pull back on the shop and drain it. If I keep doing this say 4 or 5 times will it get the contaminated fluid out?

Where was the water coming from in your truck?

Any idea.

I talked to one of my techs this morning and he said we have the fittings to adapt to my truck for our flush machine.

We gonna flush out two times and see what happens. I hope the trans is ok because if not there goes my KB - MAF - and INJ money down the tubes

Just one flush with a new filter is all you really need. But if you had enough fluid that you had the "strawberry shake" you had way too much in it, the only way to get it all out is the flush machines.

Thanks Greg -

We did not have the fittings at the shop for the flush machine so changed the fluid 5x with a short drive beetween each drain. The fluid looks almost normal now with a lsight hint of waster in it.

The trans is still shifting fine but im not driving it hard at all. Im going to drop the pan tommorro but a frech filter in it and run another 30 quarts through it.

Im going to try and get the fittings for the truck on monday so we can flush it all out of there.

Do you have any idea where the water came from in the first place other then my dipstick theory.

Thanks,
Bob
