The Bassani shorty I had sonded good to me with flow masters and no cats. They had that big block wrap type sound. The only person I ever had tell me they did not like the sound was JLP at Norwalk last year!

I think with the Low Growl from my MAC catback, Hi-flow cats from Suavy, and the shorty headers... I'll be good to go!

i can remember back like 3 years ago there was a post about shorties vs stock manifolds and that was the only change on the dyno and they lost torque with the shorties.
If youare going to do it, go long tubes. Any exhast shop can cust and weld your stock system to work with the Long tubes.
If you ask me, the headers are mostly sound and the power difference is in the high flow cats. I've seen plenty of evidence to prove it.

Anybody that says dropping psi won't help prevent detonation doesn't understand something. I also have a 481RWHP Buick GN so I know about cylinder pressure.
I can run 29psi in my Buick IF I have the proper octane fuel for it. If not, it gets detonation and my knock sensor goes crazy. I run 18psi on 93 Octane, or dump in some C16 or C12 and turn up the boost. My engine can now take the extra cylinder pressure without detonating.
Say I'm running 18+ psi on my stock block Lightning. There is a very minimal margin for error once you start pushing high boost unless you are running some good fuel. When you can drop the psi (and keep the same or even greater RWHP) it's easier on the engine and you have a little more cushion against detonation.
