Fumoto oil valve. http://www.fumotovalve.com/ . A lot of diesel guys are using these valves instead of the standard drain plug on account of it is tough to drain 15 quarts of oil. No wrench required, no splashing, and no mess.

It may work, but I wouldnt trust it. Just something else that may break and have me drop all my engine's oil as I'm tooling down the road. Getting the drain plug off isnt that big a deal for me to risk that leaking or something, IMHO. I did go to a magnetic drain plug when I first changed my L's oil, and checked it religiously 3 times a day for the first week I installed it.

But if you get it, let us know how it works.

I've had one on my last 3 L's and it is a great product. Changing oil, at least to me, is a PITA and I find if I make something easier to do and less messy, I do it more often.

I think if you do a search here and NLOC you will find similar experiences (no this was not a search police comment).

I find that Extremely hot motor oil is good for the hands.

It keeps them all soft and stuff.

Hmmmmmmmmm. I've had a magnetic plug for about 76,000 miles now and have used them for years on other vehicles too. But did you really let that much oil run out ? Those Fumoto valves have been used sucessively by many for years now too but I'd rather have the little magnet.

Thumbs up Fumoto device

I have one them on my 04L. I also had one on my 95L and 01L. I've never had a problem with it or any leaks. It makes for a quick change and it's easy to put on. The 95 had 74,000 miles on it with the Fumoto and never leaked or failed..

Very popular with the Diesel crowd. Have had one on mine since I bought it.

Too slow for me. You have to put that hose on the drain for it to open the valve. Took forever and I yanked it..

I like that the Fram valve has 2-way leak protection and includes a drain hose. Really takes the mess out of changing oil.

I've used them for years (more than 10) on several cars. Never had a drip and much less mess. On some cars with a smaller drain plug it slows the drain time some but big deal. I highly recommend.

Thumbs down

I can't see why anyone would need one of these on an L. It is soooo easy to change the oil without getting any oil on your hands. In fact, it's easier than my 427 'Vette.
