Exclamation I think I found my wheel wear source..... help

WTF!?!? If this turns out to be it, and I think it will, it will seriously **** ME OFF. Take a look at my fender lining......

There really is no where to tuck it. Do I really need that little section? I think I will just yank it, unless anyone has any better ideas. Let me know.

SO, all of you that are getting terrible wear on the inside of your tire, check this out and see if it is doing the same thing.

What is happening to your tire ?

The rubbing in that pic looks pretty minor. If your tire were to rub that plastic for any real amount of time the tire would eat through the plastic quick..

I bet it only touches at full lock

That little peice of plastic wont cause your tire to wear. That plastic will tear up fast if your tires are always touching it.

Yeah, the more I looked at it the more I realized it couldnt be it. I was putting in some different springs, new cam bolts, and some clunck washers in an attempt to cure my problem when I saw this. I figured I would throw it on here for you guys to toss around while I was finishing up.

Doug -
My tires basically wear VERY hard on the inside edge to where I never can get full use out of them. I have had multiple alignment shops tell me that it is in spec, but it continues to happen. Off to another in the morning to get it all pulled back into where it should be after me fugging with it today.

Roush front springs
Clunk washers on the driver side, although i get a banging noise when i turn lock to lock occasionally, which i assume is my steering stops.
Doestech shocks
295/45/18 Toyos
and the cam bolts are either Roush or from Sporttruckdirect.com, i cant remember.

I've been through so many sets of tires it doesnt even make sense.

Only thing that we have/had in common is the shocks. Maybe they are the weak link. I was thinking about replacing them soon anyway. Maybe it is time to jump up to the QA1s or something. I will let you know what happens in the morning at the alignment shop.

Anyone know the going rate for QA1s these days?

Fine a guy that will align your ride without using Ford specs. I found a guy that actually also accounts for the crown in the road, made a huge difference on my tre wear.

Find a local shop the specializes in dropped vehicles.

The key to proper tire wear has been mentioned. Get a guy to use Ford specs as a guide then adjust from there. I just rotated my tires today. I do have some wear on the passenger inside, but other than that the shoes have at least 5K left in them. Which isn't bad considering they have 25k on them now.

I did have an alignment done not to long after I got the truck. The alingment dude said that it was a fair bit out. Good luck

Yeah, I was under the impression that was always factored in when doing an alignment. I guess it always isn't. I was a tech for 2 years in a ford dealer..it was taught as a common practice.

Every shop is different tho.

I have the same tire wear problem too BTW. I have no suspension mods.

Yes, I have even checked their printouts to make sure.
