What is your impression about Mikes tune? I am putting similar mods on my 03L except the ported blower, he is also doing the tuning for me, so I wouldnt mind hearing what you think of the tune.

Here's my before and after the Apten port job. While I was happy with the improvment, if I knew then, what I know now..... I would have spent the difference and bought a MagnumPowers blower the first time.
I regret spending the money for the port job now. I like to spin the crap out of the blowers and heating the air charge isn't as great with the Magnum. So it was a better investment for me.

When i went witht he Apten I went from 388hp to 427 with my 4lb lower. Since then I've added a 2.80 upper, Long Tubes, Built tranny with stall and I recently ran 11.899 at 113.5 mph.

Retune

Is it necessary to retune after installing a ported eaton? Stiegemeier's website claims a retune is not necessary!

not to shang-hi your post (cause I'm interested in getting poretd as well) but something else I have heard alot about is after the port they lost torque even though they gained hp. Hp is nice but I hate to lose the torque cause then you lose the feel of the hp. Can anybody also comment on this?

Thumbs up

You guys revived a year-old post.

I have seen a couple posts in the past where people checked their A/F after having their blower ported, and it usually affected the A/F ratio by .1-.2 (example; 11.7 to 11.8 or 11.9) which is not enough to cause you to go lean, unless you were already too lean and just made the condition a little worse. Also, remember that you are still within the MAF's ability to compensate.

As for torque, most people with a 4-6lb lower and a ported blower are making over 500 ft pounds of torque, so there is no need for concern that you are not making enough torque. Lastly, nobody's truck has slowed down with a "proper" port job, regardless of what happened on the torque side, and it doesn't make the truck a high winding small block by any stretch of the imagination.

Bottom line, you would be hard pressed to find anybody who was sorry for porting their blower, again, as long as it was a good port job. You will spin a lot more tire after your port job, than before. Good luck.
