lightning purchase
Hi, new member here in the UK.
I've just been to look at a 1999 Lightning with the intention of buying it.
It would seem the truck originally came from Canada.
I just wondered if there is anything in particular i should look out for when buying a lightning and especially any differences with Canadian models.
Dash is in kilometres, but i guess i could live with that.
thanks in advance.
mike.

I would make sure the intercooler has been updated.
you will need a lift to make sure passenger side head doesn't leak oil. Ford has updated Gaskets to solve this problem.
A new Dash Cluster is about 600.00 U.S. Ford Dealers here use the Computer to display the Odometer in Miles and that is normal part of Dash Cluster installation.

I am Canadian, and my dad worked at the factorty where the lightning were made (now retired) and i asked him, the only difference seems to be the Running headlights (lights are always on during the day. automatic) and the gauge cluster (km instead of miles)

hey i'm over the pond in belfast and went through the buying process last year. mine was supplied new by american car imports and is also canadian. i have not managed to turn the lights off yet so if anyone knows how?? i then bought it from eddie at a1 stretch, i know he has a 2000 with only 8k miles. he can also be talked to on price, i got 2800 off. give me an email off site if u want some more info on buying, i think i know most of the pitfalls now, its my 3rd f150. another option is import one. these trucks are stupidly cheap in the states, $24000 will buy you a nearly new one, ie 12500 at todays exchange rates. theres 22.5% tax to pay and £900 shipping but still a works out at the price you will pay for a 99 here. you will enjoy it on the uk roads, i drove mine from london to the boat in scotland. i000 with only 8k miles. he can also be talked to on price, i got 2800 off. give me an email off site if u want some more info on buying, i think i know most of the pitfalls now, its my 3rd f150. another option is import one. these trucks are stupidly cheap in the states, $24000 will buy you a nearly new one, ie 12500 at todays exchange rates. theres 22.5% tax to pay and £900 shipping but still a works out at the price you will pay for a 99 here. you will enjoy it on the uk roads, i drove mine from london to the boat in scotland. its faith only 8k miles. he can also be talked to on price, i got 2800 off. give me an email off site if u want some more info on buying, i think i know most of the pitfalls now, its my 3rd f150. another option is import one. these trucks are stupidly cheap in the states, $24000 will buy you a nearly new one, ie 12500 at todays exchange rates. theres 22.5% tax to pay and £900 shipping but still a works out at the price you will pay for a 99 here. you will enjoy it on the uk roads, i drove mine from london to the boat in scotland. its faith only 8k miles. he can also be talked to on price, i got 2800 off. give me an email off site if u want some more info on buying, i think i know most of the pitfalls now, its my 3rd f150. another option is import one. these trucks are stupidly cheap in the states, $24000 will buy you a nearly new one, ie 12500 at todays exchange rates. theres 22.5% tax to pay and £900 shipping but still a works out at the price you will pay for a 99 here. you will enjoy it on the uk roads, i drove mine from london to the boat in scotland. its faster than most stuff on the road, most frustrating though is that any stock tvr is a good bit quicker, and alot of my mates drive them. ah well, thinking of a few mods so i can at least make an attempt at keeping with them in a straight line. anyway theres loads of tuscans and cerberas in the country and no lightnings!!
need any help let me know
