How much difference have you noticed.....
in icing down your plenum before you run your truck in the quarter mile as far as ET & MPH is concerned?
Living in So. Florida, I'm wondering if I'm missing out on some added power by not doing it.
Also, what MPH should 430-440 RWHP on F1's be good for?
Thanks.

I noticed that it will get you kicked off the track for dripping water in the lanes
I would use dry ice, but i don't really notice a difference since I hotlap my truck as often as possible.

trying to cool the intake system to a degree and prevent heat soaking....the theory behind the suggestion is valid, the practicality on our engine I think is a real stretch. A colder manifold will give a very slight improvement in air density, as the air will not heat up quite so much when flowing through the manifold.
how effective is it ???? there are many variables involved. Such as...time between passes, time the ice is on the intake, is the car pushed or driven through the staging lanes, length and agressiveness of the burnout, staging time, etc. CAN it help...sure...does it help...possibly...will your ET be erratic and unpredictable...you bet!
If you're ET racing, a consistent power output is FAR more important than having more power ocassionally, but if your trying to get that "best ET" I dont think it can hurt.
BTW: I didnt call you back, figured you had your answer.... if you want call me anytime during the day.
430-440 107-109.......slicks or F-1's

I tried it a few times, wrapped the bag in a thin towel to catch the drips. I didnt notice anything, but I dont see how anyone could...if it makes a difference it has to be very slight, and since my ET changes 2 tenths back and forth every run...its kind of hard to estimate.

If you have a intake spacer made of plastic you don't really need ice. My intake is fairly cool after a run and stays pretty cool with the hood open.
