anyone with 4.10s and 450hp

im just curious what 4.10s are like... i know probably anything over 80mph would prolly be like taking the OD off now at 80...

but im curious about the track and regular street driving... when at the track, how does it react when you get to end and are around 110+

what about on the street / track and taking off.... is it impossible to get traction?

At that power level you will only see right at a tenth improvement in the 1/4 mile with slicks.

You can forget about any traction on the street plus you will have higher RPM's while cruising at 70-80 mph.

I went from 3.55's to 4:10's for about 9 months and went back to my 3:55's.

This would be a good mod on a near stock truck probably gaining you at least 2 tenths. At a highly modded level the payoff is less at the track and the loss of traction on the street made this mod not worth it for me.

I have traction problems with 3:55's below 60 degrees on the street and the 4:10's were crazy. At 70 degree temps I would burn almost halfway through 2nd on a gear change with the 4:10's.

I went 3.55's to 4.10's and then to 3.73's.
4.10's are fun on a stock truck but a pain in the butt at anything around 450hp and up.

What do you mean? Can you still hook at the track with slicks? I got 4.10's and was thinking of having them put in........

4:10s and 525 rwhp and converter, great at track using 30" M&H tires. On street can not go WOT in 1st at any speed, tires spin allows the motor to instantly hit rev limiter before the tranny can shift to 2nd. However, its not all gear since it will spin them pretty well in 2nd from a roll as well.

thats what I should have said.....on the street with stock F1's its not that much fun.....I've got my butt handed to me by a Corvette because I was sitting there spinning while he drove off.

At the track they are good but if you get into the upper mph ranges say over 113 or so then the motor kind of runs out of breath....feels like you need to shift into overdrive.

I say go for it! Just make sure your tire diameter will allow you to cross the line under 5500 rpms and in 3rd gear.

Rich is right on, guys. No one wants to be shifting into OD, or revving their stock motor past 6000rpm in 3rd.

BigBob has had success w/ his combo... but he's also running a 30" tall tire.

Scott... I would get a converter before putting in 4.10s.

Do the 4.10's ... they are freakin so much fun for driving on the street.

I probably have around 80k miles on my 4.10's, and love them. And with 470rwhp (with a 50hp shot), using 28" tall tires, I've run 11.96 sec.

I've ridden in BigBobsL truck... he has a built motor. And with those 4.10's, that truck hauls a$$ and pulls up to 120-130... kicks a$$ in the 1/4.

Just do it... and if you can keep your driving normal (very hard), the gas mileage does not suffer. Hard to believe, but it does not.

My 2 cents......
I see in your sig a 12.02 as your best time. I would work on my 60', as an easy .03 is there.
Why take the chance of buzzing your motor, for that 1 eleven sec time slip. Besides, praticing is cheaper

.

I dont know my 60's are decent useually low 1.6's. My truck runs a killer 1/8 but falls off in the 1/4. Right now my truck is hooking so good last time i was at the track it pulled the driverside front wheel off the ground.

I got a nice pic of it lifting the wheel about 6 inches off the ground.
