Seat of pants feeling on 4 LBer?

After a long wait and a lot of Hick Ups I have finally gotten an 03 L with 12K miles. I got it for 25,000 out of florida. The problem now is the wait, there is a back log of stuff shipping out of Port Everglades to the Cayman Islands. Anyway, let me get to the point. I have been in contact with several tuners about chip, filter and pulley. There prices are not that different about $80 at most for the combo.

However there are some that say stick with the 4 LB and others that say 6 Lb will work great. So I am a bit . On my last L my 01, I had a 2 Lb upper and that felt pretty quick.

So my question for those who have had both 4 & 6 what is the seat of the pants difference? I know there have been a debate about ET's but I am mostly interested in the low down Tq.

Is a 4Lber way different from stock? and what is the difference between the feel of a 4 & 6 Lber.

Thanks all.

i have 4lb since day I bought it, so im not much help... but from what i have heard the 6lb adds alot of torque so i would imagine that equals some SOTP

i say go for the 6lb..

I started out with the 4#, felt good but I wanted more. I replaced with the 6#, it felt alot better. It really doesn't matter which one you use, only to have a good conservative tune for it. Talk with the tuners and see which you are most comfortable with and go for it!

You will not be disappointed with the 6!

Rich

P.S. I currently run the 6# lower with a 2.7 upper(approx. 3#)

OK shoot me if I'm wrong but, was'nt it mostly the 6lber spun the stock Eaton just enough more than the 4lber, that the heat generated offset most of the gain, after a couple quick blast?
it's all pieces of the puzzle, if you go 6 plan on some additional inercooling mods to help out and realize it's full potential.

Modding is FUN, my first mod was a JDM stage 2 package w/4lber
why start small

It's warm most of the times in the Bahamas, so I would go with a #4 which is a little more safe, but if you purchase a combo package of a #4 and a #6 interchangeable pullies from one of the vendors you could swap out the pullies in 15 minutes, best of both worlds.

What's up Leighton? Since I have been to your beatiful island and know the roads and the weather, I'd say stick with the 4#'r. I believe you're also stuck with 91 octane fuel. Like D Davis said the 6#'r will generate more heat. A 4#'r with the right plugs and a good tune will be more than enough. I was shocked how much those mods added to my L. My L's been gone since December, and I still get a SEG every time I think about the fun I had driving that truck. Good luck with your L pal.

Thanks Mart,

Do you remember the lightning that I asked you to check out for me? That is the one I bought. In Jamaica where I had my first L, I only had 90 octane. Now here in Grand Cayman I have up to 93 at the pumps.

But I will stick with you recommendation and go with the 4 Lber. Will give you a call.
