Why would DJM post this on there site?

Look halfway down the page, it says,
Note : These parts is not designed for use on Lightning or Harley Davison models.
http://www.djmsuspension.com/Product...7F150Parts.htm

Why would our trucks be any different than a regular 2wd F-150?
Think it's the weight of our engines and the ability to move quickly putting to much stress on the welds?

When I have seen close ups of the control arms I always wondered if they would buckle under cornering stress..

They seem very light compared to the SVT arms

the 295/45/18 tires add a bunch of stress to the front end I bet

The upper control arms that I got from DJM are
much beefier than the stockers. Plus they have
a replaceable ball joint, zerk fitting and poly sleeves
on the mount points.

I will let you know how they last ... I have pics at home.

Cliff

PS... so far, the only problem I have is the p i s s p o o r
jig that they weld them up in.

HI!... The LIGHTNING upper/lower *A* arms are identical to the regular f-150. Remember that FORD's made the LIGHTNING from a regular F-150, not the other way around. Except for LIGHTNING related parts the REGULAR (5.4 equiped) and LIGHTNING F-150's are identical. I think they state that they will not work on LIGHTNING/HARLEY applications because both these truck have already been lowered from the factory more than the REGULAR F-150's. So if the kit says *THESE SPRINGS WILL LOWER YOUR TRUCK 2"* Yes they will on a regular F-150, but on a HARLEY/LIGHTNING it will be more due to the alrady factory lowering kit. I think their just covering their A$$es so they don;t get trouble back to them about theit kits.

Maybe they do something different for the wider wheels of the Lightning.

Didn't Skelton put a set on his truck?

i think Neal has the right idea. due to the fact the L/harley are factory lowered you will not see a true 3 or 4 inch drop compared to a regular f-150. there just covering the a$$e$

Well I have gone through the ONTARIO, OAKVILLE truck assembly plant twice. I watched them run the LIGHTNINGS on the exact same line with the other F-150's. They were installing the same upper lower *A* arms on both style trucks. They were coming out of the same box...................

The only difference on the SVT lower control arms from a regular F-150 control arms are the welded steering stops. Guys that install our stock rims on there trucks can tell you all about the difference the first time they turn the wheel all the way and hear the sound of there rims beng shreaded.

In short, NO the arms are not identical. There is a reason there are SVT stickers on them.

The ONLY difference between the SVT control arms and the reg control arms is the steering stop in longer on the svt ones so the tires do not rub on the control arm there is NO thickness difference,or shape of anything.JUST the steering stop.Stan
