thats not a bolt. that is more like a bolt head and that is what your supposed to use to remove the setup but they always round out so i just remove the pulley and work on the big hub. do you have a pic of yours. was that part broken off

I would not install that if I were you.
You will never get it back off, and will destroy it in the process. There are MANY threads here where people have destroyed those things to get them back off. Definitely get a different one if you want no problems!

Yes ,i have to agree. From what i hear they are crap.I know people that have had to cut them off to remove them.Chances are the guy you purchased it from stripped out the bolt trying to get it off.Put it back on e-bay for someone else to deal with and get yourself a good one.

Call JDM and they'll hook you up with the spindle. Putting it on is no problem.
Mine looked like this after I got it off...

well.........

something has definetely been altered on that, no doubt.

As far as the problems that these guys are speaking of............99 percent of them were on the original style that JDM admitted they had trouble with. The newer ones have not had the same problems. The biggest problem is that the JDM system utilizes the stock style carged set up, which screws into the balancer, unlike the other pullies that just bolt on with a couple bolts.

If you don't use anti sieze, it will be a bitch to get off. Just like if you were to remove and reinstall your stock setup. Go try and get it off again and then call ford and tell them it's junk.

I would contact JDM and ask them what they think. I would say it's been altered because there is a boss that resembled the head of a bolt that measures 3/4 or 19mm that you can use to tighten and loosen the hub.........missing.

Someone on this thread has an anti JDM complex that needs to be let go. Buy a new exaust for christ sake and get over it.

Good luck.

Why would you recomend someone to go with that setup when you had problems with it as well? What happens if you totally strip the nut and cant get it off?

not for nothing

but that picture looks like you tried to take it off with a damaged, or the incorrect socket.

See those two holes on each side of the hub. Those can be used to remove it as well.

You would need some kind of specially designed tool in order to use the two holes in the hub to get the pulley off...I've tried that route and the bolt head, which had already been stripped in an attempt to remove it, gets in the way. And the spindles are made out of some kind of crappy pot metal that rounds off with the amount of torque required to remove the center spindle. I've tried the correct socket size and even bought a socket designed for impact wrenches at JDM's suggestion. Same result...rounded off bolt head and hours of fun trying to get the spindle off with an 18" pipe wrench, sledgehammer and torch.

There's a reason they converted to the big giant hex-head on the pulley's center hub...because it can take the torque necessary to remove the pully.

And is that rust on those pulley bolts???

I am not rehashing this again, it's been covered to death already and will bring the bashers out. I am not saying to use or not use the pulley. It is useless as it is, but if he wants to use it then all he has to do is contact JDM for a new spindle since they are the original supplier. The pulley will be fine unless you need to take it off like to change the accessory drive belt.

For me, I used all of the correct sockets but the metal is really soft. A 2 3/4" socket fits around the larger hub but the spindle still must be destroyed. The pulley was on for less than a year. Oh, plently of antisieze was used to protect the innocent.

Here is my original thread https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...t=lower+pulley

Everything worked out for me, then I wound up going with a cageless design.
