wait

first of all, your battery shouldn't be reading 14 volts unless the truck is running. With the truck off, you should see about 12.6 volts.

These guys are correct about voltage drop. Dropping to 9 volts is telling you two things.

One, the starter is fried , drawing the battery down way more than it should.

Or two, the battery is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Put a load tester on it and go from there. Autozone are any of those places should be able to do it. Make sure they don't just hit the switch and say it's ok. you have to hold it on to simulate the load on the battery and watch the voltage!!!

yes...you can change out your starter. (located on the passenger side) just behind the headers or manifold. I have long tubes...and can tell you...the top bolt is a PAIN to get out. Other than that...a piece of cake to replace.

Thanks dudes! I'm going to go to Autozone and have them load test the battery. I've scheduled an appointment with my dealership to have the starter replaced (just in case) for this Saturday.
