Question Which taillights on my White 99??

Ive been going back an forth on these two different sets of tails:

stock 01 and up ones for $159

or

These on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...e=STRK:MEWA:IT

......the stock ones look chrome on the inside and I have Zero chrome on my truck. I guess, if whatever I get looks too stupid, I can open them up and paint them Oxford white.

any suggestions??

Hint here, once you do 2001 tails, you will want the entire light package. I did the tails in my 1999 and low and behold, I ended up doing the entire truck.

this is coming from someone who has had tons 3 different pairs of tailights and 3 different pairs of headlights over the past year and half...

GO WITH STOCK!!! trust me on this... you will have problems with water, fog getting inside those and not to mention, in person they just look fake

go with stock look

I don't think my DSG painted tails look fake at all. I get as many compliments and double-takes on my DSG tails as I do my HRE wheels.

Personally, I can't stand the chrome look. It looks like a friggin' ricer. I still shake my head at what Ford was trying to accomplish with the '01+ tails. They are just too large of a lens to try and use the faux-chrome look.

Anyway my advice is to run the red ones or paint them. The key in painting them is the prep and then the seal. I have done two sets of painted ones, and one of the four lights gets a little moisture inside it every now and then. It was in the first pair I did, and now it is not a problem.

I haven't seen one done in white, but it would look much better than that chrome crap.

i just did this:

smoked covers, they are about the same darkness as 35% tint, but glossy, so they really hide the lights unless they are on.

I picked up some tails that were tinted and cleared coated! Look great on silver and now the only colors on the truck or black, silver, and chrome wheels! since you don't have chrome this might be an option but i don't know how they would look on white. just my $.02!

I like the covers in your photo, but here in VA if I get rear-ended and the person behind me isnt an idiot, they'll use that in court agianst me. Covers, both head and tail have gotten me pulled over a few times in VA.

I guess i'll look into the spray smoke stuff. If I spray it on the red tails, will they just look darker red, or black.
