Camber affected by tire size???

I took my L to the dealer to have the clunk washers installed. Not only did they NOT install the stainless clunk-fix washers, using the star washers instead (after telling me it wouldn't be a problem), but on the service report, the tech noted this:

Vehicle has aftermarket tires installed. Camber is excessive and out of range due to aftermarket tires.
Is this BS or what? I have snow tires installed (per manufacturer recommendations, no less). They're 225/75R16, and when I compared them to the F1's, are about 1" greater circumference (almost identical size).

I think the dealer, in another effort to provide their famous outstanding customer service, didn't want to install cam bolts and align it properly. So, can anyone confirm or deny that tire size has nothing to do with camber adjustment?

Thanks. And don't ever buy a car from Hawkinson Ford in Oak Lawn, IL.

That is 100 percent Bull**** !!!

Go talk to the service manager and the shop manager.

Some dealers and some mechanics don't know
caster from pollux ... <===inside racing joke

OR .. you can just do the Cam Bolts yerself ... takes about 20
minutes a side. Most times you can bypass the alignment if
you are very careful, also.

Thanks SVT_KY. That's what I thought. I'm supposed to call my service rep back on Monday, so she can pull the actual alignment report and find out how far out of spec it was actually aligned to.

I'll end up getting cam bolts and installing them eventually, once I throw some new springs in there. But the fact that this dealer keeps reaming me just pisses me off.

Do the clunk washers have anything to do with camber?

If they did put in the star washer, it will clunk again.

Well, thanks for the offer, but Santa left a set of Ruslow 1000 lb-ers under the tree.

My dealer aligned my truck 3 times before he installed the clunk washers. The star just won't hold.. or not on my truck.
