Cheaper version of Billet Engine Bling

id love to give Chickenears all my money and bling out the engine, but I just cant afford $700 or whatever to do it all....

i was just curious if anyone has actually tried to take those plastic pieces (washer fluid lid, etc) and paint them chrome with chrome spray paint....

i got a chrome spray paint can and tried it on a piece of trash plastic i had and it actually paints nicely.... but didnt wanna just go do that to my truck until I see that Im not the guiny pig....

is this a good idea or not... any thoughts?

I dont think it would look real good because you still wont get the shiny look of the real thing. What about buying one part at a time thats what i plan to do.

A little at a time is better, with the chrome type paint durablity in the engine compartment, I think, would be a problem with "fading/dulling, spoting, Etc."
you could always try a little piece somewhere not to noticable and see how it holds up

i would THINK (but not positive) that you'd have problems with engine heat cracking/peeling stuff like that? How much heat does it say that it can withstand?

a buddy of mine tried to use some of that chrome spray on some interior pieces on his 300ZX....BIG mistake.

All the pieces looked pretty good at first. As soon as you touch them it all goes to hell. Even if they are totally dry, your skin's oils get on it...you cant wipe them off without hazing the "shine"

If it worked that crappy on interior stuff I would think an engine would be a nightmare. You would be better off paying to have them professionally painted some other color.....I guess they could do "chrome" though....not sure
