12.50's or lower

Howdy all. I have been buying parts left and right for my 04 L. I really want to get a 12.50 or lower on a consistant basis. Here are the mods that have been bought and are waiting to be put on my truck:

ftvb
4# or 6# pulley (interchangable metco's)
bassani cat back
metco track link (upper)
predator programmer
Hoosier QTP's
Eagle 16x10's
metco ds safety loop (its for safety I know lol)
NGK BR7 Spark Plugs

Ok. So what have I left out of this? The truck only has a jlp ram air kit on it (ran a best of 13.44 with this). With these mods that are in the garage on average what do you think it will do. If this isnt going to keep me at mid 12's or lower what else should I add to the mix. I run at mason dixon dragway in Hagerstown Maryland all spring through summer. So factoring in Maryland weather and that track (for those who know it) what will all the above net me?

You will be a consistent 12.50 truck. I run a 6# lower and 2.8 upper and have run 12.42 @ 113.5 on a 1.79 60'.
You will be good to go.

Fordlightning76,

Well, at Hagerstown its hard to tell. Its typically .1 - .2 slower than other tracks (.2 slower than Cecil). I go there about every 1-2 months over the spring and summer.

Your best bet is a nice spring day and hope the track is hooking.

I give you 12.7'ish at Hagerstown.

Maybe a converter or some long tubes may help you get that last .1 -.2 you are searching for.

I have spent alot of time up there testing and playing around and have enjoyed it.

Email me and I can let you know when we will be in the area again.

Im liking what im hearing so far. The plans are for dynatech long tubes with high flow cats added to the mix more for sound then anything. Also wondering about a tb? Help any? And what about cooling? Should I be working on that issue as well. My wallet is open and I need to get this done by march. Keep the reponses coming guys!

Well my 03L with the following mods ran a 8.17 through the 1/8th mile in less then ideal conditions. An 8.17 would put me close to 12.60's in the 1/4 so your going to be close.

My performance mods :

6lb lower
intake
plugs
nitto dr
dynatech long tubes
magnaflow cat back
ftvb

I think you'd run 12.7s 12.8s consistantly in some cooler air.

I'd suggest having the blower ported. (mines though Apten)
That ought to get you into a pretty consistant 12.5

I run consistant 12.5s and I think mines got a 12.3 in it on a good day. (ran a 12.40 w/a so-so launch)

Rich (see my web page for my mods)

Is mine just special to be as fast as it is? I still think his truck has a legitimate 12.50 in it with his list of new parts. I really do not think that the long tubes would be worth much power at this point. Definitely worth it on a built motor and different blower.
On a 55 deg. day with the Hoosiers, no hitch, no spare, no tailgate should be an EASY 12.50 truck. Mine ran low 12.60's in the heat and elevation at Bristol drag way. I have never had a low 1.7 or 1.6XXX 60' time... If I did, I would bet my truck has a 12.30 in it.

If your wallet is open, I would first look at the electric fan set-up. Secondly, I would have the truck on a dyno to get the power squeezed out in a safe manner. You can have the truck data logged right down the street at Troyer Performance. I personally think the throttle body is a waste of money. I bought mine used for a killer price - that is why I have it.

Get your truck up to JLP and have Johnny put a custom tune in it! I ran low 13's with the pulley tunes and was very discouraged until Johnny put a custom tune in my predator. I then managed a 12.98 in summer air and a 12.76 in 40 degree air. ByeByebird had a 12.65 with his on the same day. (Both on street tires, me Nitto's, Bird F-1's!) I imagine with slicks you could knock off a tenth or two of our numbers? Don't think you would have a 12.50 # during summer air though??

4#, CAI, JLP bars, JLP predator custom tune.
Good luck,
Bryan

I just kinda wish everybody's posted times weren't with:

1. Tailgate removed.
2. Hitch removed.
3. Pass seat removed.
4. 104 octane and massive WOT advance (enough advance to
blow it up detonating at idle).
5. 38 degree Arctic blast cold front & 5% humidity.
6. Two quarts low on oil.
7. Took a big dump just before taking a pass.

A hint of sarcasm, but much of it is true.

I do not take anything out of the truck I just try to show up on Empty to put some 100 oct in before running
This is also on the street side in cool weather just to be safe

My 12.541 @ 110.05 MPH is exactly how I drive my truck on the street with the exception of using 26" ET Streets.

4800lb race weight, street tune, 93 pump gas. This was in mid-60 degree weather that was decent to race in but not optimum.

I have a 4lb lower, 2.8" upper, Apten ported blower, C&L plenum and elbow, and a 12" open element air kit, and an email custom tune for my predator. I also have Lakewood t-bars, FTVB, and a DS loop.
