New rotors/pads going on. Should the dust shields come off?

Get some new Powerslots and Pads put on as well as painting the calipers. While everything is off should I remove the dust shields or keep them on? No "hard core" racing going on but curious if it would be a benefit or hinderance?
Thanks

Only if you ever want to use them again They are just soft aluminum/tin material. I unbolted mine, and cut them off

I looked at doing that ... The rears really need more air ...

Maybe when I rebuild the rear, they can "forget" to put them back.

well you can forget part of the rear shield but the hold down pins for the parking brake shoes use the inner part of the dust shield for the anchor.sTan

Just take a 1" holesaw and "modify" the dust shield
