Hey guys,
Whenever i let off the gas and coast i hear a " Thump Thump Thump " coming from the rear end of the truck..
The noise doesnt not occur when accelerating..

Does any one have a guess ?

 

just a guess, broken gears? I'd wait for the experts to chime in though. Is it just me, or are a lot of people have rear end problems lately?

 

Is it coming from the rear end of the drive shaft (U joints)

 

Im not really sure yet... It just started last night.. from a drive from miami international airport ( Hell ) to orlando..
Ill try and pinpoint the sound today
..
the only testing ive done so far is stick my head out my window.. and its definetlly coming from somewhere in the rear.

 

Try to find out if it's under deleleration only. Try to see if it's there under light-to-no loads. Also, try to determine if it's a one-to-one thump with the rotation of the tires. Or faster....

If it's definately there under deleration only, I's say u-joints or the ring and pinion.

Its definetly under deacelleration only.
the thumping noise is relative to the speed too.
High mph deaccelerating = more thumps.
