whats the BEST fine scratch/swirl remover

im gonna do a full detail and cleaning of my truck this weekend, it needs it...

Iv been using that new Meguirs NTX wax lately and pretty happy with it. I use the Porter Cable and do about 2 coats.... but I wanted to do a couple coats of some kind of scratch/swirl remover.... I have a 3M one that I tried one time and never used it again... it was REAL SUPER filmy/oily and was very hard to remove....

is there a product that is easy to remove, yet actually works?

When I bought my truck it was covered in swirl marks. I went over to the detailing section of this website and Rockpick, (the detailing guru) suggested that I use Meguiars #9 and then follow up with 2 coats of NTX and it worked great. You may need to clay it depending on how bad your finish is. (bird dropping etchings, tree sap, bug juice..etc)

I use the 3M but it is very abrasive and I just use it to clean up the wet sanding marks when I do rock ding touch ups.

Just be sure to follow the directions on the bottle because #9 is from the professional line of Meguiars products and can be a bear to remove. I just used very thin coats and worked it slowly and had no problems. Awesome looking truck you have there.

yeah #9 man. use it and love it! just when you apply it, work it while it still has a wet edge to it. RP (Rock Pick) and Boss are the detailing Godfathers! they helped me out imensely. the recipe for destruction that they gave me was...few coats of Meguires #9, followed by a thin, and i mean thin coat of #7 Show Car Glaze, let that sit for a few hours, then hit it up with the NXT, thin coat of that as well, sit overnight, another coat of NXT, overnight, then two coats of #26 Yellow carnuba wax. with the #7, shake the living poo out of it, and make sure you only apply a thin coat. use that in sections at a time as well with the 9, 26. the NXT can be apply on the entire truck and come of like a dress on prom night! trust me, you will be amazed, i was. the number 7 is the hardest to remove, so let me say again, thin! if there is a chance that the truck may have gotten dirty, use final inspection as a wipe. it will remove any crap and bring out the gloss as well. i know that RP and Boss, will say something better, as i'm still learning, but i think that they have taught me well. good luck. Willie

answer #1.
yes they can, but i would only use it if i was really skilled at using some machine. bad things can happen with any abrasive if not used properly.

answer #2.
i got my pro line of products ( #9, #7, #26) from an autobody shop here in town. and yes they can be orderd from the website. and not from wallyworld, although the NXT can be got from wallyworld.

Dang Willie, you went the extra mile. I took the lazy way out and it still looked good.

you might what to use the clay abr. I used it with my zaino kit and there is no better way to get EVERYTHING off your truck. I'm sure all clay bars are the same just make sure to keep the area wet when using it.

yeah i used to go that route, but it think that it lasts longer with more coats. plus my truck is red, so that shows even amoeba trails on it!!

Use Mother's Sealer Glaze. Goes on like wax, comes off like wax, and its a glaze so it removes those fine swirl marks just like 3M hand glaze.
