Installing KB tomorrow, some ?????
Installing KB tomorrow, some ?????
When reading the instructions it says to take out the CAC (intercooler) in order to do the install.... Am I reading that right... This truck is the first forced induction vehicle of my own, so I will obviously have to drain the intercooler... Any tricks, or is it as easy as it seems... Also, can I use water wetter instead of Anti-freeze after a re-install... Any other things to look for will be appreciated...
Also, I have a 2.9 upper on my Eaton and a 5# lower (8.75") and I am using a 68" belt, KB thinks that with my 3.2 upper on the KB and my 5# lower that I should be alright with that same belt... Anyone else have a differing opinion and if it is too small then I guess the 68.5 would be the right one...
I know I sound like an idiot, but I haven't installed a supercharger before and I will be doing it at night when KB and other information source are closed...
Also I have an adapter that fits in the end of the pulley bolt and and a long piece of metal with two prongs on one end... Are those the only two items, besides a ft/lb wrench that I will need to install the pulley.
All KB experts please report to this board for a few hours tomorrow

I have swapped a few Eatons in my day and have helped on two KB's and not once have I ever touched the intercooler. Well, unless it was removed to be cleaned. So to answer your question, no it doesn't need to come out. As for water wetter I know a lot of guys here in AZ run it and really seem to like it. As for the mixture I have no idea. Hope this helps and good luck on the install, it is pretty straight forward.
Its a snap. Don't worry though, you'll be an expert on removing and installing a KB in a very short time. Atleast every KB owner I know is. They have had to remove the blower a couple times for various problems.
Good Luck with your install
