Been running them for two years. Yes they improve 60 ft times.

Weight of the truck vs Mustang is mute argument, VALVING IS ADJUSTABLE. At full tight (9), they are very stiff. At about 4 they are equivalent to the Bilsteins. I run mine at full tight at track with slappers to keep tires on the ground. Do you think the QA-1s are L specific, no, they are adjustable Mustang shocks. Are the QA-1s better, probably, but the Strange do a very good job for half the price.

These will save you a broken rear if you are running slappers and get into 11's or even 12.1s. At that power level the slappers will react strong enough to lift rear tires off the track on launch. When they come back down spinning, the spider gears have a way of saying see ya! The pices generally take out R&P and have made holes in the rear-end housing. Ford lists a new L specific housing at ~$1500 and they are hard to find.

Both will fit; I used the 6004LM, but fit on lower stud mount was a bit loose (metric vs US). I think most are using the 6000EM and it may be a better fit on the lower mount. I know some of the QA-1's did not fit tight on the lower mount either. I have more than 15,000 miles on mine with no problems.

So l-menace did you improve your 60 with these shocks ?

It seems to, however I also added 4.10 gears in he rear end, so I can't attribute my improvement to the shocks alone.

However, I like them better than the bilsteins, they are completely adjustable, so the rear suspension is hard as a rock or soft like a feathr pillow.

Depends how low you are? You may need some shackle extender thingy's.. (forgot what they are called, they lower the bottom of the shock mounting point)

I can set them to be extremely stiff, or relatively soft. FOr me it was the price that sold me. They are near the price of stock bilsteins at around $130/pair for the rear.

In the front I'm running stock bilsteins. (well they aren't the stock ones as mine is a '99 - they only have a few thousand miles on them)

Just an update, I still have the original Strange Shocks on my truck... I bought another pair for Rich (Wydopnthrtl) to use at the track and see what he thought..

They are holding up fine. Even though my suspension is lowered in the rear, I've gone over tracks where I know I've over etended the shocks... still holding up fine.

also, ttt for the guy asking about these

after more research I found that putting the shocks on the stiffest setting at the track resulted in the best 60' times.

reasoning:
With the shocks on softest setting, the suspension loads up and absorbs the transfer of weight of the truck
With the shocks on the stiffest setting, the weight of the truck is trasfered directly to the tires and improves traction.

On the street, I set it in the middle, the ride is smooth and responsive.

I will be lowering my truck in the next few weeks and adding a panhard bar. I'll keep everyone updates.

:

Are there 10 adjustments or 8 adjustments????

The dial on my # S6000EM have 8 marks but I keep reading about there being 10 adjustments.

Just wondering if am missing something here........

Reviving old thread.

I'm planning to lower my 04 Lightning:
3" belltech front coils without the rubber isolater (hoping for 2.5-3" front drop)
for the rear I'm gonna go either Shackle and hanger for 4" or 2" Shackles with hotchiss Leafs for a 4ish" drop.

Would these strange shocks work better than the stock shocks after I lower the truck?

Would using Socal shock extenders WITh teh stock shocks be better than strange in the rear? or even stranges in the rear + shock extenders?

Also with teh 3ish" drop in the front will my stock shocks hold up or will i need different shocks? if so which would work best?

Rear shock:
With the stock shocks you cannot adjust the rebound. I would try the stock shocks, if you don't like it, switch.
On the stiffest setting the strange shock is very noticable, on the softer settings, I think it's softer than stock... so you have some adjustability.

Yes. I'm dropped 5 in the rear and put on the Strange shocks. Rides great, handles great, launches great. Best 150 bucks I've spent on my truck. Period. You won't need the extenders, altho you'll probably find that setting 6 or 7 is about as soft as you want to go with these things, with the truck being so low and everything.

Ok plan will be 4"rear with ONLY strange shocks, No extenders.

For the front doing 2-3" will I need new shocks or do the stockers hold up well?
If they don't which fronts should I get? Strange Front ones?

For the front Rock out some QA1's. The stocker will work, but only for awhile. Strange doesn't make fronts that will work for us. Need any more input on it, feel free to email me. mg_man71 at yahoo.com. Don't wanna take this thread too far off topic.
