Angry Exploding Fog Light Bulb

I have an '01 that had the fog lights replaced about a year ago due to heat cracks. I now have the '03/'04 (?) fog lights with no SVT cover over the bulb. I am now out of warranty for a variety of reasons.

Right after I got the new lights, I put in 9005's. The driver's side is still in and never had any trouble with it.

About a month ago, my wife was driving my truck when the front passenger side bumper was struck by debris. She said it looked like a chunk of a rubber bumper. It popped out the fog light assembly, which she was able to pop back in. The bulb was intact, but did not work. I replaced the bulb, which lasted about two weeks, when it exploded. I replaced that, and it also exploded about two weeks later. I didn't touch either bulb with my hands.

What gives?

Did you wipe the bulbs down with alcohol before installing them?
You may not have touched the bulbs, but the worker at the plant may have... :o

Maybe the "debris" knocked a connection or wire loose. Possibly a ground or something along that line.

The bulb will work for awhile, then the glass around the bulb goes boom.

I got some new ones at Walmart, like other people have replaced theirs with.

Is there water in the fog assembly? Any small amount contacting the hot bulb will blow it.
