Red works great on a stock truck. Yellow top is for extra load capacity such as big stereo systems, eletric fan, bottle warmer, etc., beyond the stock system.

Optima Battery Packs

I use the yellow top Optima battery pack. These batteries really work best for our performance or electrical mods. They provide more electric power than we need. You also get more power for easier start ups. I'm very happy with my yellow top Optima Battery pack. I highly recommend buying this unit especially if you have a sound system with subs install....

The yellow top is the best choice for our trucks being it is a deep cycle. It will take the beating better with the cool downs from the electric fans and what not we use at track. Very worth the money. I had a red top last me 6yrs running lots of stero equipment most of the time.

Another vote for the yellow top here. It will handle multiple discharges/recharges better. It is a deep cycle.

The red top is considered more of a starting battery.

SVR80 anyone? A good deal more juice than the yellow top; 75-95% more.

Don't bother with the red top.
