OEM Radio choices

After looking around on Ebay, I found a host of "upgrades" for our stock quacha jukebox.

1. "Mach 3 MP3", 1 CD, in dash.
2. 2004 <, 1 CD, in dash
3. 2004 <, 6 CD/cassette/MP3/Pioneer, in dash

I know #1 will work, but will the 2004< models fit our chassis and harness without any modifications?

Thanks!

You can fit almost anything from an explorer or ranger ...or super duty for that matter. I had a six disc in dash, and hooked it to my stock changer to make 12...which was cool for stock.

I didn't look for the year of your truck...but the 99-03(?) need to be somewhat gutted out to fit a 6 disc in dash. I had to cut out some of the plastic back up inside the dash. The stock tape deck POS is tapered on top...the 6 discs are not...thats where it will hit, and prevent you from pushing it in all the way.

The six disc I had worked fine...I hear bad things about them failing though...and the Mach system should be fine, but they also make a 6 disc mach mp3 that is a total POS. My buddy has that one and it craped out in 3 months.

and your wiring will match, no changes needed

I purchased this one:

So it will be 6+1, OE looking so the thuggaz will leave it alone and decode MP3's. Cool as hell.

I assume you can select the changer by pressing CD twice, am I correct?

The one I bought doesn't say MACH on the front of it, however there were identical radios that did have it on the front. Is there a difference?

thats how it worked when I had the 6/6 setup. I would assume its the same for the Mach. Any of the HUs that look the same, and have the same spring mounting system should work fine. There are some out there for mustangs that look the same, but use tabs on the top instead of pressure springs

Not really, unless along with the MACH headunit you picked up their amps & etc. MACH is more of a "system" then the radio alone. If you did pick up the MACH amps, you wouldn't be able to cable them (unless you made your own cables) to a non-MACH headunit.

I bought this unit off a guy from Ebay. I think he said it was from either an Excursion or a Ranger. But is plays mp3s and looks stock. And yes, it works with the stock CD changer.

I have the Mach unit in my L, plus I added an Alpine amp and upgraded the speakers.

The MP3 ability is great.. I put about 100 songs on a disk, that is more than 6 regular CD's will hold.

I got mine at www.radiosandmore.com
