8Lb Pulley on standard truck?

Right. Looking to buy a Predator with a belt and pulley.

Have seen one for sale but is an 8lb pulley going to be too much on an otherwise standard truck?

Somebody just tell me what the ultimate chip pulley kit is because all the choices are killing me!

Want a good torque and horsepower gain without jeopordising the engine!

Bear in mind I don't have the luxury of living in the states so I can't just go and see a local tuner like you guys.

Thanks

Whoa, you'll need excellent engine management from a competent tuner to save your engine from running lean and exploding, much colder spark plugs, better intake air flow and surely traction bars to save your shaft from all the low-end torque. The additional heat and parasitic losses will kill you on the top end, so I would consider a blower port as well.

I believe you would be happier with a 6# overall.

4 for fun and safe
6 for fast and borderline dangerous

Also can someone please talk to me in terms of engine HP Gains (not rwhp) as I have always worked from that on previous cars. It gives me a better understanding of what I am gaining.

Im the son of Jim@JDM but anyways the best bet for the trucks as far as my opinion goes is:

SCT Chip, Programmer, (predator in your case)
4lb Lower pulley
Cold Air kit
NGK Tr6 spark plugs

You should be right at or near the 400hp/500tq mark with that. at the tire

When you increase the boost you will need to change the plugs to a cooler set and at a tighter gap, I would suggest .036" that way if you want to go with a set of headers and step up to a 6lb you wont need to change them again.

Im not sure because Ive never used the Diablo software but their basic "pulley tunes" I would only assume are set up a smaller pulley like a 4 or 6.

With the 8 you would be asking for trouble.

If you dont have a local tuner we can offer the SCT programmer and email cable so that we can send you tunes via email. That way you dont have to worry about shipping over the border back and forth if the tune needs tweaking or you change something. Call me at the shop and we can talk some more.

Silverbullit. Are you a tuner? Is it not better to get started with the 4 and see how it goes?

you want to start with the 4lber and if you go with headers down the road a 6 is the way to go to regain lost boost from the headers. Some people really like to roll the dice and run their trucks harder.

Do not put on the 8 lbs pulley.......there is a lot of tuning invovled, and it is better to start a little safe than to blow your first time out. There are very few that would know what kind of Octane you can get in England and may not have read where you are from. I don't think Jim Jr. is steering you wrong, and seems like one of the few trying to help.

Forget about the stock bottom end....the eaton can't handle an 8#. The heat it would create would serioulsy outweight the boost it would make...
