From: Colorado,
I just want an 8 or 10 inch with amp that I could put on the front hump and have it removable in the event I need the space for 3 people.
I could unplug and store in the bed for the ride.

Would this Idea be practical or possible?

I just want to upgrade from stock sound and use the stock head.
Seems to me with a standard cab truck you don't need a whole lot of fill it.

thanks
GZ

I talked to some sales guy at Car Toys and they wanted to build me this custom box and there way would end up being around $1,500 to $2,000. I politely told them I would think about it. They wanted to change the head but I don't see the need......

Hey EZ, I had a small custom box build for a JL 10" behind the passenger seat, the amp is behind the drivers seat, both mounted to the rear panel. Sounds really good for 1 10" and about 350w rms.. As we talked eairler, after the new year we can hook up and let you check it out..

I used a single rear firing 10 " JL Audio Sub....plenty for my taste...and it fits w/o any modification. The arm rest still operates freely. I am running an Audiobahn 4002 @ 4ohms into it

No hassle, fairly priced, and great performance. The gap is due to the box not being bolted down.

On a side note...would anyone be interested in these enclosures loaded with a great pair of subs? If f150online will work with me (and there is interest) then I can make it happen at a good price.

I want to install some nice component speakers into the doors. Will 6.5" round speakers fit, or do I need to modify the doors to fit?

Also what brand and where to get em if ya dont mind, Thanks!!!!!!!!
6.5 compnents will fit fine. If you want to shove 2 sets in each door you will need to cut out the stock door hole some more and make a plate. I'm using 1/4 hardy board for mine.

As for brands, how much do want to spend? I've had MB Quart and Focal for the past 10 years, and they're great, but expensive. I went to the dark side and tried a popular "off brand" that the sounddomain.com guys have been raving about and fell in love. Adire Kodas, and then some 25mm Vifa Tweeters. Sounded just as good as my focals for about 1/2 the price. For my L, I just ordered 2 sets of components from Resonant Engineering and they look fantatstic. They also come with Vifa silk-dome tweeters. www.reaudio.com is their address. I've hung out with the owners a few times and they are great guys, and they're really taking over the car audio circuit.

Good luck.

So no adapters are needed to put 6.5's in the doors?

My RE 6.5's have anough lip to fit in the stock holes. Personally I'd still make a flat piece to cover it all and cut out the mid/tweet spot.

ArtMan - Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for, a single 10" box. I had a single JL 10" in my prior vehicle and it was ungodly strong with the amp I have. I think a single will be fine in my L.

Kirst-

I've powered my JL 10" with 100 watts. In my 'Vette it really sounded great, but the enclosure was right behind my head. I'm wondering if I'll get the same sound out of it with an enclosure behind the passenger seat of my L....
