Question Lightning-Enterprise - PCV Kit???

Lightning-Enterprise - PCV Kit???

How many of you guy's have installed this New Lightning Enterprise PCV Kit, to help keep the oil blowby out of the Throttle Body and Intake Plenum??? Reason I ask is I have installed it onto my Lightning and have excessively more oil in the Intake Piping then before.

I just have a seperator - I considered the LightningPerformance kit but it seems their site is down so I never got it.

I've tried one and had similar oily results. If you look at the long winded thread "why the PCV valve soaks the intercooler, you'll get a good idea of what the problem is and why just installing one-way PCV valves is not going cure it.

The "Lightning Enterprise PCV Kit" was one of the first approaches to resolve this problem - about 2 years ago Tony at Lightning Enterptises offered this solution. If you do a "search" on here you'll find mixed results - seemed to work for some, not for others.

And for me it's been working great

Had tons of oil without it, and dam near none with it,
and I've been running it prob longer than most of us, strange how it seems to have differant results on differant trucks

The creator of it, is a member here, just can't remember which one???

KIRST8404 , but I guess you Do Not have a Breather Cap on the oil fill tube of the passenger side Cam Cover , with using this kit, either, Do You??? If you did have a Breather like me, then the PCV system cannot operate the way the factory intended it to be , right???

Hmmmmm, wonder if I should just reseal the system, with removing the Breather Cap from the Cam Cover and see if it still pulls oil into the Intake Pipe!!!!!!

Any other suggestions??? Either you bypass the PCV system altogether and run Cam Cover Breathers, or leave the system closed with using the PCV Kit, right????

Well guy's, all you are actually doing is installing a "BandAid" on the problem with installing a Oil Separator kit, as you will no doubt, have to empty this bottle everytime you turn around.

The Lightning Engine was made to have a completely Closed PCV Ventilation System for it to work properly! After spending countless hours on F150 Online and of course NLOC until 3:00 A.M this morning, it struck me , that if you have a Passenger Side Oil Tube Breather Filter installed, you are actually taking away the use of the PCV Valve System to operate at 100% efficency!

In essence with using a Breather Filter, logically speaking, you are opening up the Sealed PCV System and the system is operating about 30% efficent, as under Wide Open Throttle, the PCV Valve is supposed to "Close" , but cannot , because it is no longer a Sealed PCV System. This is why I , like others running this Lightning-Enterprise PCV Kit , are not getting the Full Benefit of it's intended purpose. So in closing on this subject, Do Not under any Circumstances, use a Breather Filter on your passenger side Cam Cover Oil Filler, Only unless, you intend on "Removing the PCV Valve and making it now a "Open System , to not let oil enter the Intake Plenum or Intake Pipe, Via the PCV System!!

Well, I am leaving this New PCV Kit on my Lightning, BUT, I am taking the Passenger Side Breather Filter off the Oil Filler Tube and closing the PCV System again, as it should be. It is imperative that with trying to use a Breather Filter and a PCV Kit, you have two variables working against each other and not letting the Closed PCV System function properly, because of the loss of the Vacuum to close the PCV Valve or Valves, the way Ford engineered it to be, Verses by using a Oil Filler Tube Breather Filter assembly installed, the PCV Valve cannot close under any boost condition.

So, I am putting the Oil Fill Cap back on today, to reseal the PCV System and this should remedy the situation of excessive oil getting into my Intake Pipe. WHY, you might ask, Think about this, when the PCV Valve functions, or is working, it has to have a Closed Ventilation System to function properly, as the engine is running, the PCV Valve is Open!!!!

When the engine accelerates to full Boost, the PCV Valve actually closes, to keep oil from blowing (Blowby) upwards from the Cam Cover, up through the Drivers Side Vent Tube, then upwards to the Intake Plenum.

With using a Breather Filter in conjunction with this New PCV Kit, it is not letting the engine pressurize the PCV Valve and it Cannot close the PCV Valves under boost, Do, to the Blowby is being pushed upwards through this Drivers Side Came Cover Vent Tube and pushing it into the Intake Pipe, as you will have a big Oil Soak problem in the Intake Pipe.

I did not sleep last night thinking about this and decided to remove the Passenger Side Cam Cover Oil Tube Breather Filter, to let the New PCV Kit do it's job, as it was meant to do. (Meaning a Fully Closed PCV System) Hope this helps, as this is the only logical way for this New PCV Kit to work properly.

I added the LE kit when I was getting a lot of oil in the throttlebody and intake area. It didn't eliminate the problem, though it did reduce it. I put my oil breather cap back on, in conjunction with the LE kit, and it is very much improved. Almost none. Just a light coating. It's funny how everone seems to get different results.

I have the breather filter cap. But I don't have a oil seperater or a PCV kit. I was thinking about installing the oil seperator. Would that be good enough, or should I put on the PCV kit,or both?Which would be the best thing to do?

Cool

I installed the kit and have to say it seems to work as advertised.

I had a coating of oil in my plenum when I added it. Cleaned it out and when I added my C&L tube the plenum was still clean.

Guess I'll know the real deal when I pull my blower off for porting...
