Gutting Cats
As far as power gains or losses I wasnt worried about that. I gutted mine so I would be able to run high octane race gas. Seems like cheap insurance to me. Ive had my cats done for a week and haven't gotten a check engine light yet, dont know why but it hasnt came on.
If your running stock boost levels and still have a stock convertor? I'm not to sure you'd gain much except make it louder. You'll loose a little torque down low but gain a little on the top end. And like I said with 8-10psi I'm thinking you really would'nt gain much of anything.

because unless the rear O2 sensors are turned off with a chip, the computer would know the cats are not working properly [/QUOTE
But dont the o2s measure air fuel .How would no cats change your air fuel?

The cats heat the exhaust stream and chemicaly change it's makeup. The rear O2s will know.
