to chrome... or not

a friend of a friend has a wheel shop and can chrome just about anything that is aluminum, or something. He offered to chrome my stock rims for 450.00. I'm considering it. Would this have a big affect in power? Cuz I would be happy with stock rims or the 03 rims if I did change... but a little chrome never hurt nobody. I like the rims on the red truck on chickenears truck up on his site. But are those stock or 20"? Anyone done this and have pics? plz post.

Why would doing anything to your rims change anything power wise? You wont gain or lose anything power wise.

BUT

I am going to assume you are concerned about added weight? Well, dont worry about it. It will be negligible.

hhmmm...should have choosen my words carefully.
i meant to ask about the added weight. I have no idea how heavy it is, but I was assuming that it was heavy enough to drop some HP #'s. I know it's probably nothing worth being concerned about, but i thought I would just go ahead and ask about it. But kiimbal has answered my question already.

The price is WAY below prevailing market......

I'd jump all over it.

it wasn't on my L todo list but 450 sounds really good. he has his own machine and can do it in a day. He is near Rio Grande City. I'm in Houston. my friends travels there pretty often and will take them if needed. And if I had some spare wheels, mine might already be chrome.

I just don't know what wheels I want. Either the stock, stock chrome, or the stock 03/04 wheels. I like the stock look so making it look newer sounds like the best way to go.

If someone wants to get in on this... I, maybe, can work something out, for a small fee of course.

I don't know if he is good or not but I'll try and check out some of his work if I decided to go for it.

Blown93: That's the other thing i'm concerned about. Any way of knowing his quality of work by looking at rims he has done?

It's not the Chrome, but the prep work to the metal before the wheels are dipped. Wheel must be PROPERLY prepped for chrome period.
