eagle 5.4 rods - questions

Ok - pretty much decied to put eagle rods in my truck over this winter so my question is since I can't get any solid info is.

1- do the eagle rods use the same size small end as the factory pistions. ie - can I use the factory full float pin or does the smallend have to be honed to size. (will check for proper clearence at anyrate but I would still like to know)

2- Can i use ford bearings on the rods (again I will ofcourse check fittment but I'd like to know if different bearings have to be used)

3- do the eagle rods have the proper connecting rod side clearance?

4- do the eagle rods have identifications marks that must face forward like the stock rods?

5- what do you torque the rod cap screws to?

I more than likely will run ford bearings as I've seen many n/a 5.4 work trucks - superduty 5.4's with over 200,000k on them still going strong (even after sucking dirt with crappy aftermarket air filters)

Thanks for any info

Best thing I could say is to pull a rod and send it to eagle and have them match it.

Best way to torque rod bolts is with a stretch gauge...not many folks do it this way anymore but the rods should come with documentation detailing the optimum 'stretch' for proper clamping force. Your torque wrench, even when torquing to spec, may not stretch the bolts enough in which case they could back off or may stretch them too much which will weaken them. Invest in a rod bolt stretch gauge (and most decent rods have bolts that are already 'dimpled' for the stretch gauge)...best $50 or so you will spend on your motor.
