remote start
remote start
Just bought an 04' F-150 5.4L. Im happy with it so far. I went to the dealership and asked about remote start kits. The guy said it would be about $250 to purchase & $250 to install. Wow! Ive read some comments about aftermarket kits and I am torn. I dont like the idea about leaving a key attatched to it so it will work. Or the trouble of paying someone else to install it. Ive also heard they are somewhat tricky.
It almost sounds like I need to bite the bullet here and have the dealership do it. Has anyone gone this route? What was the cost? Is there a good alternative?

I have looked into it somewhat too...there are some decent options...Im still looking for a totally keyless one....I have heard its out there....but havent found it yet. As far as paying for an install....some kits are easier than others....but I get the impression its something most people could do in under and hour or so at home.
I just brought a new Viper 791VX with duel channel pager system with remote start. I have not have a chance to install it yet since I am kinda busy Xmas shopping...........hee........hee.........but I heard this Viper set-up with work for the L's
I have the Audiovax one and it works pretty good, will page and work like 1/4 to 1/2 mile away, something like that. I use the option feature to lower my windows on command, made passenger side one touch up and down and will also raise windows when armed.
I had the dealer install the Gold unit on my 2003 f150 supercrew 4x4 after I got it. The unit price was $300 but the labor was high for the install,
but well worth it . The range on it is real nice (better then the org remote)and it works through walls and metal places. Inside Wal mart I have no
trouble getting my rig started parked way out in the parking lot. The dealer learned a lot on putting my system on for it was the first time they had
installed one.The Goldl unit has the best warranty.I think they have changed the units now with a new one, buy today and they come out newer one the next
day.But I like my system and if I get a new truck later on it will have one on it too( without the alarm).I can leave the rig running pull the keys out
and go in a store if I want too. Hope this helps you on what to get. NOTE the gold unit has alarm on it, so if you have a key pad it will go off when you
use it. Order the Silver unit and it is remote start only but you have one remote for locking, unlocking and remote start.
